Publishers' Go-To

Freelance book editor you can trust

Since 2001 I’ve had the privilege of working with four of the “Big 5” publishing companies as a freelance copyeditor, proofreader, and authenticity/sensitivity reader. In addition to major publishers, I work with mid-size publishers, literary agents, and self-published authors across a broad spectrum of nonfiction and fiction subgenres.

My favorite books to edit are those that teach me something or offer a new perspective. I do not edit LGBTQ, erotica, or poetry, but I enjoy editing most fiction.

Specialty genres: contemporary fiction, thriller, suspense, young adult, fantasy, science fiction, self-help, self-improvement, and travel.

Why Work with Me

1. You’ll get a true professional who has built a solid reputation as a trusted, ethical, and reliable partner with a proven track record of diligent work and consistently meeting deadlines.

2. I’m able to copyedit Black authors without needing to query their vernacular nor change their voices.

I am also adept at adhering to house style guides, as well as project’s style sheets, and have in-depth expertise with both AP and Chicago.

I’m a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA), the EFA’s publications committee, and former co-chair and meeting planning consultant for the EFA conferences. I am a member of Professional Editors Network and Women’s National Book Association. I’m also founder of the Black Editors Directory.
